Do you all believe it would be good idea for the government to install cameras in everyone's home?

With the War on Terrorism, we need to be on the watch out to make sure there are no terrorists living amongst us.

The government needs to install cameras in everyone’s home to make sure that we have no terrorists living amongst us. What better way can we fight terrorism?

A neighbor of mine across the street always has his curtains drawn. That really draws suspicion of a terrorist.

Homeland Security is doing good and I’m glad we have the Patriot Act, but we need to go further and install cameras in everyone’s home. Surveillance of everyone individual is a sure way to fight terrorism.

Is that a serious question? Let me answer that question by asking you to do something: Go to a library, find a book called 1984 by George Orwell. Read it. Think about what you have just read, and then answer this question: Would you like to live in the society that book depicts? Does it sound like a good time? ….and there you will find your answer.

Also lack of freedom does not =more secure. More security measures do not equal less violence. Look at Israel for your example. Lots of security, still lots of violence. There are no physical barriers that can prevent terrorism completely, forever. Locking yourself into a fortress only creates the illusion of security. There will allways be a trap door, or a draw bridge that your enemies can exploit to get inside. Safety from your enemy will only come from confronting the things that make him your enemy, and rectifying them.

If your cell phone can be tapped, even if it is off, one wonders what they might be doing with the cameras on the phones and on computers.

    No.

    Dumb question, really.

There is already to much government intrusion as it is. And I’m sure that if something like this were instituted, it would fast become abused.

I would rather be unsafe then give up my right to privacy within my own home.
