Meet The Parents – Home Surveillance Legality Issue?

Anyone who has seen Meet The Parents the scene with the motion activated hidden camera’s to i.e surveillance babysitter activities, would this be legal.?

As it is your own home there should not be a problem with it? but your are still video taping people without there knowledge…

    There is no expectation of privacy when you are a guest in anothers home. People set up "nanny cams" to watch their children at home with the babysitter, or hidden cameras to catch thieving housekeepers and this practice is legal.

    yes it is legal. it’s done all the time in the workplace. the rule is he who pays for the telephone and computer can monitor it. i’d think the same thing would apply if not more so , within ones own home residence.

    This depends on the state you live in, but I am pretty sure this would be illegal without some type of posted disclaimer (i.e. "These premises are monitored by video surveillance") somewhere visible either outside or insane your house. You most certainly cannot use hidden camera footage to benefit from someone else’s actions without their consent. However, I am not completely sure on this issue because you hear in the news how some people catch babysitters and such doing illegal things in their houses.
