It should be easy but you will need an internet connection at home.
Option 1

If you have a analog camera with a BNC or phono connector, you can buy a simple USB device that will connect the camera to the Internet via your home PC. Then you can access from the Internet anywhere and only costs from $79 and can accept up to 4 cameras, see http://www.grandtec.com/xguardUSB.htm
Option 2

Upgrade to an IP camera, it can connect directly to the Internet and can be wireless too. Gives great picture quality and camera control and some models can be accessed by mobile phone. From $90, See IP camera demo at http://www.securicorp.com/remote-cctv-demo.html
Option 3

Try the slingbox, it can broadcast any type of video including your TV to any PC. See it at http://www.amazon.com/Sling-Media-SB100-100-Slingbox-Classic/dp/B000AMLXHW from $119
All options above will allow you to view CCTV or Video from any PC or on your browser on your HP laptop
So working on the assumption you can hook your security system up to your home network.
assign your camera/sec system an IP address and then login
You can do this only if you have installed a digital camera that is compatible with computer. A very simple method which does not require you any further cost. make two yahoo IDs, say id1 and id2. Attach your camera to your home computer which is connected to the Internet. Log on to yahoo messenger with the ID1. Configure it to allow all to view web cam.
Now on your laptop, log on to yahoo messenger with ID2. Add in contacts ID1 and then view ID1’s web cam.
Hope it works for you
