i want to make a cheap surveillance system for my house consisting of maybe 2 or 3 cameras and have the information fed into a pc on the second floor. i want it to be relatively easy to make and relatively quick to produce. ive seen people make things like this with webcam cameras so i know it can be done. the cameras could be coupled with a simple ir beam so it turns on when it senses movement but is not completely necessary and would be an added bonus if it could have some sort of ir imaging which would allow it to film at night but again is not completely necessary. does anyone have any detailed instructions for something like this? thanks in advance
You can’t do this easily or cheaply (although "cheaply" is a subjective term)
Here’s just a taste of what you’ll be getting into:

I think that it is best to find professionals to do this.. I have bought a usb camera system for very cheap.. I will list my resource in the resource box and you can check it out. They have everything you need and i got my products in 5 days..
you can build a cheaper ones using a usb camera and some software. however, reliability can be an issue with this. you can get a reliable and robust system for under $400.
Thanks for that advice. Any details? Especially on software to use.
