Many Types of Cameras for Different Needs

Fixed network cameras are based on traditional camera design. The viewing area is set once the camera is mounted. You can get model with variable focus and zoom capability. These can be mounted indoors or outdoors, depending on the camera housing. They can be wired or wireless, may have audio capabilities, and may also be powered over Ethernet.
Fixed dome cameras are usually compact versions of a fixed camera, and may also be offered with special features for passenger vehicles such as buses or trains. The are less intrusive than traditional fixed cameras, and they can make it difficult for observers to see the direction that the camera is pointed.
Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras allow movement of the camera. The operator may use a joystick or other means to direct the camera.
Thermal network cameras are used to monitor areas that are in complete darkness. These cameras use the naturally radiating heat from an object to create an image.
HDTV/megapixel cameras offer high resolution imagery, giving more detail or wider area coverage. The resolution of HDTV/megapixel cameras is at least 3 times greater than analog CCTV cameras.
