I MANAGE a mobile home community. It is a safe community. I just recently had a new resident move into a home (home is owned by resident, property rented to them). We have specific guidelines in our mobile home community, almost that of a subdivision. The new resident put up surveillance cameras which is fine, and not a rule violation, BUT they have their cameras facing my office and home and two other residents. I find this to be creepy and an invasion of privacy. I have looked up Indiana laws and cant find anything that states either way, legal or not legal. Indiana invasion of privacy laws pertain mostly to use of cameras on private body parts, the fourth amendment pertains mostly to protect people from cops coming in without a warrent, harrasment/intimidation is the closest I can come to anything, since it causes me stress with my anxiety disorder, but not sure if it will be good enough. I gave a warning to the resident to move the cameras to direct them to their property only, other residents are getting upset about it too. Police are trying to work with me, they are driving through to make the camera residents feel paranoid about the cameras. Police think something more is going on, cant figure out why they would need the camera pointed towards me, which is also on the street of the main entrance. They are thinking some kind of drug situation. I cant evict at this point until Im sure what is going on, they have only been their about a week.
If anyone has any specific laws for Indiana on this it would be helpful.
Also, this is private property, not public property. It is privately owned and operated.
What they are doing is legal under Indiana statutes, it would only be a violation of your privacy if they could see inside your living quarters or if they were viewing you in an area that the general public could not see. If a person walking past or driving past can see what they are filming then it is legal.}{
Thanks for clarifying that Miss Sarah!
