I’m rather new to setting up any kind of video surveillance, but it’s becoming glaringly obvious that it’s something my home needs…indoors…to help protect my belongings from roommates.
Does anyone know of a relatively inexpensive surveillance camera that I could do the following with?:
– Attach wirelessly to my home network and access remotely, or have it upload images periodically to some online storage location.
– Set up to take an "ok" resolution pic periodically based on a schedule that I set.
– Place in an inconspicuous location so it is not noticeable and not at risk of meeting the fate of some of my other belongings (i.e. low risk of someone noticing/stealing it).
Like I said, this isn’t something I’ve done before, so I’m open to suggestions about this. Also, I realize there may not be an really "inexpensive" solution, so please don’t feel that you can’t suggest something just because it may actually be quite expensive. I’m just looking for some ideas.
I appreciate the input!
Thanks,
Matthew
You can get wireless IP cameras for about $50 each here: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=APM-J011&cat=VID.
Use that camera with Security Monitor Pro on your PC for a complete 2 camera surveillance system for under $200. Security Monitor Pro has motion activated recording and alerting, along with many other features that would be useful to keep an eye on your belongings.
More information on Security Monitor Pro is available here: http://www.deskshare.com/video-surveillance-software.aspx
