What is the best video surveillance system for home security?

   You have several options to start with. I’ll break them down by price. And for prices, I would recommend buying your stuff off of Amazon, the links below are only for more information and not for sales. Amazon usually gets you a fairly low price, unless you find a deal at a big box mart like Costco, etc.

   Now, you can get one of those cameras and most of the time they will hook up to your PC and be able to put the video somewhere where you can connect to it. You need to usually know some information about your home network setup.

   Here’s one downside to the wireless camera, you will need to attach it somewhere fairly firmly and it might be a bit pricey compared to some wired brands. Plus, you will probably need an outdoor camera. And this is only 1 camera. Get 4 of those together and your at almost $500 dollars. For that price, you can buy a whole security DVR system:

   There’s a big daddy system at $500 will night vision cameras. $500 is really not too bad. On the night vision cameras, do some research on the quality of them. Some people think that you can get really awesome photos at night with them. Not true, most of them are grainy and sometimes you can’t make everything out. Here are some examples:

   So that was a low end price and a high end. You can also get something called a Digital Video Recorder PCI card for your computer and use that. The PCI card would go into your computer desktop and then you run closed circuit television cameras to the PCI card. One nice thing about this option is that you can just start with one camera if you want and you can get a higher quality camera:

   That option runs you around $200 for the card and one good camera. One of the links above had a review on a camera sold by Amazon that gets decent nighttime shots.
