I’m recently moved into a home where I rent a room. only the owners son and I live here. Two nights after I emptied my storage my laptop disappeared. I open that in my storage, it was there. Left it locked in my car. 2 days later the zip tie was off and laptop was gone. He is a computer wiz and realized I was taping on a VCR. I’m afraid to confront him until I have proof. He has taken other items also so I know he Will come back when I unload the rest.of my things. Also where to purchase?
The real question is whether you want to live in a home with a creep like that.
Even if you confront him, you are at the mercy of the landlord who’s RELATED to this guy.
Since he’s already stepped over the line by invading your space you can’t be sure how he’ll react when confronted, possibly in vengeance.
The only positive about gathering evidence is when it comes time to ask the landlord to give back your deposit and get out of there.
Either way, look for another place.
Hello, I agree, if you can, just get your deposit and go. Even if you catch them on camera you may not get your items back. You may want to use a lock instead of a zip tie and keep you electronics in your apartment and not is storage. Here is an article that shows a hidden camera with an sd card.

Hidden cameras usually take some time to catch people. Its never overnight and you may get video that show someone but if you cant identify them it will do you no good.
