Dogs, while initiallly intimidating, are easily dealt with. They are vulnerable to most of the same measures used against humans- bludgeoning, knife attacks, and silent weapons. In addition, dogs can be disabled by a host of ultrasonic devices, antidog (repellent) chemicals, and b*tch scent.
Electronic sensors are daunting, but still have weaknesses that can be exploited. wires can be cut or rerouted. Energy sources can be destroyed. A general blackout of the area will render many security features useless.
Every security system, no matter how sophisticated, can be overcome given sufficient time. Even computers, for all their uses, are only as smart as the people who program them. Likewise, you must remember that security devices are only as good as the people who install, maintain, and answer them. No matter how good a sensor is at picking up an intruder, in the end it still comes down to a human being sent to investigate the machine’s cry for help.
So know this: The most effective home safety system is you. As fierce as guard dogs are, and as sophisticated and technologically advanced as computer monitors and sensors are, none can think. All three of these can be good as a warning, but in the end, it is what you do that matters.
;D
A combination of Dog and Alarm.
Both can be worked around, however if you use the Dog to protect the Alarm, the chances of a successful intrusion drop to about 5%.
It would take more than an amatuer to get past it.
THe sh!t gets deep here
Dog inside so it cannot be poisoned, you cannot get around a good dog they will hear someone. You can get a round the other two easier.

Consider the source of the link – they may not be entirely "independent."
I believe a monitored alarm is a deterrent. But, realistically, if I know you have something I want, I can get in and out prior to the police arriving.

well the dog acts like all, it makes sound and see’s. but it will cost the most cause you need to pay for food and stuff. But alarm is good. You can also just get a "beware or dog" sign that will scare most burglars.
but if your gonna get a dog then get one of these dogs from the following list.
Bullmastiff, Rottweiler, Fila, Dogo, German Shepherd,
And the very last one is The WolfDog (yes theres such thing). Half wolf, half some large shepherd breed. And Wolf-dogs are generally said to be naturally healthy animals, and are affected by fewer inherited diseases than most breeds of dog. Vicious, hard to train, eats a lot, not very a very loving pet,but who would dare break into your home when you got wolves in the back yard?!

Mr colt Mr Smith Mr Wesson, Mr. Ruger etc.
Those will reach out and touch the bad guy so he knows not to mess with u again and they dont require much upkeep, plus they are always at the ready and never require food or water or sound false alarms in the nite.

An alarm system with monitoring and a couple used CCD Camera’s mounted visibly but not reachable and make it look like its hooked up.
Don’t go with a fake camera when you can get non-working CCD’s for about the same price. Put those steel security gates on your exterior doors and a set of those steel roll up window shutters and your fort should
be secure : )
